Avalanch

What a winter this could end up being, Scotland has had a hell of a plastering of snow and even the Lakes is full to the brim with the white stuff.

While my thoughts are in winter mode I reflected on past trips and remembered a day out with Dave Owen in 2004. It brought a stark reminder of how fragile our winter play ground can be, you hear it every year about climbers getting caught out in Avalances.

Lakes Walk CANCELLED

Hi All,



In view of the forecast for tomorrow Iv'e decided to cancal my walk in the Lakes.



I don't fancy trying to get to and out of Great Langdale and the line about 'Blizzard, Lightening and Whiteouts' tipped the balance !,

Amphitheatre buttress, Craig yr Ysfa Sunday 13/12/09

300m - Grade V Diff

Weather was -1 degrees in the Valley. Low cloud but dry.

Approach - from Cwm Eigiau 1 - 1.5 hrs

Up and away by 6.30am, it was always going to be a biggish day, but events conspired to make it even longer, with our early start rubbed out by a patch of ice.

Saunders Mountain Marathon July 4th and 5th

I am doing the event after a bit of a lay off. As ever Mr Kenyon (Mr Motivator) suggested I perhaps inform you all in case you were considering doing one of these events.

There is a history of the club entering these kind of events in large numbers in the past but this seems to have stopped in recent years.
