Time: January 18, 2015 from 9am to 5pm
Location: Tilberthwaite Car Park

Event Type: winter, walk
Organized By: Mike Chambers
Latest Activity: Jan 17, 2015
Walk from Tilberthwaite near Coniston (grid reference to follow). Depending on interest we could do 2 routes - one taking 5 to 6 hrs and a shorter one suited to those less experienced in winter conditions - or just preferring something shorter. Both routes include an ascent of Wetherlam. If the weather turns cold again crampons and axes will be essential. We managed it without either a couple of days ago.
The morning after the Christmas Curry may not suit everyone but for me, blowing away the cobwebs will be great.
Meet 9.00am at Tilberthwaite (coordinated transport will be good) - under way by 9.30.
Let me know if you can't make up your mind about coming or need gear.

Hi everyone. The arrangement to meet under jct 3 of M65 at 0730 tomorrow remains firm. getting to Tilberthwaite is likely to be problematic so for anyone travelling direct (only Geoff I am aware of) please meet at the Dixon Ground Car Park Conison to the north west of town centre 298 975 (not a car park I have used but marked on the map posted by Derek. Meet in Coniston 9.00 to be moving by 9.30. Daylight to 4.45

Hi Mike, will see you under M65 at 0730 - coming with son Philip + Fiona.
Just been printing some maps off for tomorrows walk up Whetherlam.
I've done one from Tilberthwaite side as first option and one from Coniston side as option 2 it we can't get up the road to Tilberthwaite. This will be a good opportunity to do some navigating for those who haven't done much. see attached, maps which are take from Harveys disc.
Make sure you let Mike know you are coming just in case we can't get up the road and walk from Coniston. See you there D
Just had a call off Dom saying that as of today there is plenty of snow on the hills so expect winter conditions under foot. That said it is looking a very good forecast for Sunday so should be a cracking day. See mountain weather forecast

See you on Sunday. D
