Hi all,
Just wondering how many people would be interested in a meet in May 2013 to the Isle of Skye. Me and Graham are interested in having a pop at the Cuillin Ridge, and I know there are a number of other members who have expressed an interest. We are intending to book a hut for possibly a week sooner rather than later and are intending to bring it up at the meet on Wednesday for discussion.
There are a number of different opportunities for walking; climbing; mountaineering or just chilling out, so all members are more than welcome.
Thought I would pop it on prior to the meet as food for thought :-)

I'm keen to have a go at this next year. Not sure if can make a whole week. Gary
I've looked into the situation with booking the hut for this and, unsurprisingly, it is already pretty much solidly booked for May 2013 already. It may be better to plan on camping at Glen Brittle. The campsite is well situated for the climbing, for the start of the ridge (if done south-north), and also has some great bouldering within 10 mins walk. It is right beside a beach. There are also bunkhouses on the island, but they are not so well situated. The other alternative would be the campsite at the Sligachan Hotel. This isn't as nice as Glen Brittle and is further from the climbing. But it is the end point of the ridge traverse, and has the advantage of being next to a pub (the Glen Brittle site has a very strict no noise after 10pm rule). It is also well situated for the Red Cuillin Hills (not to be confused with the Black Cuillin, where the ridge and the good climbing is, but still great for walking).
Perhaps as it may be hard for people to get a week off work for this, we could consider the May Bank Holiday weekend?
Depends on the dates for me as it's our 25th wedding anniversary next year so Mrs K will keen to get away. (-:
Keep me in the loop. Great to see so much going on. Regards D
