Jacks Rake is interesting but not to be taken to lightly especially if its covered in ice, but great if full of snow.  It was probably the first winter route I ever did.  I'll tell you the story some time, but it goes along the lines of one ice between 4!

Any of the ridges will give you some sport, with difficulty's that can be avoided.

Also as usual check out the web for ideas or pick up the winter guide.

Enjoy D

wops Sorry Brian I didn't read who the post was off, with a broken leg you won't be doing much this winter mate.  Chin up it will soon mend.

Kind regards Derek

hi,     thanks geoff i'll be googling them shortly :). i like the sound of the ridge walk ,..... ah derek i had my cast of yesterday :-) felt sooo good to able to scratch my ankle without use of a coat hanger or knitting needle lol, ive been told to rest it for 2 weeks but i rekon a week is good enough which is why im looking at a small/short easy walk/scramble(pinnacle ridge  grisedale maybe ???), i had a look at that jakes rake before putting original message up, i checked a few things on the www but most were lacking in info in winter conditions,  just found a site with comprehensive list on so i'll be going through that shortly and hopefully picking something out .......
