"Hi Alan,   It appears your comments have created some degree of fierce debate within the club, and for fear of being left out I thought I would add my two pennysworth in.   Initially I would like to mimic those comments of Mark…"

"Interesting to note that my comments were discussed at your latest meeting. Can I point you to the following clubs: 1. www.rucksackclub.org - large organisation 2. www.lancsmc.org 3. www.lccc.org.uk My question would be why join the MOB when any of…"

Derek Kenyon replied to Alan Hulbert's discussion Why so few Events?
"Being one of the elder statesmen of the club I'd thought I'd leave a reply to Alan's comments to give other newer members chance to reply and give there views. In fairness to them they wouldn’t have know that Alan had done his…"

Pete Whetham replied to Alan Hulbert's discussion Why so few Events?
"Hi Alan   Many Thanks for your thoughts. I suppose the MOB can seem a little cliquey at times to people who are not directly invovled with the club. But then again we do discribe ourselves as a small friendly club, and I think…"

Kalymnos

If anyone else was thinking of going at the same time Olympic Holidays have still got places available - same flight and accomodation etc. Only the price has changed - £711 for two people, £356 each. A saving of £30 per person.

Why so few Events?

Some thoughts - all below is my own personal opinion and is a challenge to a small Mountaineering Club to improve their membership. I occasionally browse this site to keep in touch with what is going on.As usual there are very few events that members can join in with - a big disappointment. Every so often I wonder about joining the club but as there are so few activities published it doesn't seem worthwhile.I receive the minutes on a regular basis and speak occasionally with members. This keeps…See More

Alan Hulbert replied to Derek Kenyon's discussion Kalymnos total costs and itinerary
"Bloody typical. Ryanair are now starting to fly from Liverpool tp Kos on Wednesdays. As they have only just announced the route return flights for Oct are £98. Flight times very sociable - no long waits and lack of sleep. Plenty of time for…"

Can you alter the entry for Kalymnos? It is currently showing as a January event. You need to change the date field to the actual date of the trip instead of January, otherwise it will disappear as the shown date passes.

MOB minutes May meeting Annual AGM

The AGM was well attended with approx 15 members.

Our current chair Cath Skinner did a quick resume of the years' events and thanked the members for their efforts and participation. Particular thanks goes to those who put events on the web site and managed them for all. We have had some great times out and about over the year together.

Thanks to Cath for her chairwoman ship over the year , she has done a great job.

A new chair and deputy were voted in with the… Continue

Putting Something Back

If you are from near Bury (Lancashire) and love the outdoors, want to promote opportunities for young people to enjoy the Lakes at minimal cost, have enjoyed using the Bury…
