Milstone

Sunday 9th of May Rick Colin and my self went down to Milstone in the Peak district.
Apart from a few the routes start at Server with some classic mid grade routes and a lot of hard routes. The day was always going to be cold as it was a north wind with little sunshine to take the edge of it. Rick kicked off with the VS Embankment Route 2, which climbs twin cracks a quite a stiff grade (At least I thought so). Colin wisely decided to sit it out and save his energy’s for his lead, Close Shave a nice S 4a down the far right had side. As we where just finishing off the sun decided to make an appearance which spared me on to lead Mayday my first HVS of the season. Whilst we where down that end it would have been rude not to have done Eartha, a lovely HS which Rick made short work of. Next off was the classic Great Slab which had some bold slab climbing on it (which concentrated the mind) , a steep off width and steep exit crack to finish.
By now we where all a bit jaded, but Rick just had enough energy to finish off on the Mall one of Millstones classic VS’s. All in all not a bad day considering how cold it had been.
