Event Description

No expense spared to bring you a meet at this most desirable hut down Glen Etive. Need to take sleeping bags for sleeping, logs for burning, coins for the metre and a bucket for fetching water from the burn 80 metres away. It is cheap and we are seeking full payment in advance (£5 per night). 13 beds but camping is also possible on adjoining ground.

Club Hut – Inbhirfhaolain, Glen Etive Sheet
The Hut is ideally placed to give access to the Glencoe and Glen Etive hills. Within 10km
are the 1000m+ summits of Bidean nam Bian, Buachaille Etive Mor, Meall a’Bhuiridh, Ben Starav and Stob Coir’an Albannaich. The Trilleachan Slabs are at nearby Loch Etive.

Situated 7 miles from the junction of the A82 Tyndrum – Glencoe road and 1km beyond Dalness (“the big house”).

Access
Two keys are supplied. One opens the padlock securing the chain across the entrance drive; the other opens the cottage door. Ensure the door is locked and the chain replaced in position when you leave

Disabled Access
Please note that the Hut may not be suitable for persons with certain disabilities. Check with the Custodian before booking.

Accommodation
Accommodation consists of a common room and kitchen downstairs and a sleeping area with mattresses upstairs. Sleeping bags & pillows are required.
No more than 13 people can be safely accommodated overnight. There is an environmentally-friendly “Clivus” composting toilet accessed by an outside stair on the western side of the cottage.
Camping
Camping is permitted on the grass in front of and to the right (west) of the cottage.
Fires are not permitted anywhere outside.

Facilities
The cottage has electricity but no running water. On entry, the power will be off and requires to be switched on as you enter. There is a £1 coin meter.
Water has to be collected from the burn some 80m west of the cottage.

The kitchen equipment includes an electric cooker, fridge, microwave oven, electric kettle and water heater. Cooking utensils, crockery, glasses, cutlery, food storage boxes and essential spares are provided. Heating & Drying
The common room has a wood burning stove. Hut users must bring their own fuel. Please take logs, not coal. Cutting of standing timber is not permitted.
The porch has a dehumidifier and a small fan heater and can act as a drying room.

Fire Prevention and Safety
A Smoke Detector and a Heat Detector are fitted. Emergency Lighting is fitted above the stair. Fire Extinguishers are provided. Before retiring for the night, the wood burning stove should be checked.
Smoking is not permitted.
The Fire Door to the common room should be kept shut at night.
Fire Awareness procedures should be observed and Fire Risks minimised

Refuse Disposal
Hut users should take all their garbage and spare food with them when they leave.

Availability
The hut may only be booked by a club affiliated to (or by an individual member of) either the Mountaineering Council of Scotland or the British Mountaineering Council, or by any other organisation approved by the Grampian Club.

Child Protection
User groups taking children to the Hut should have a Child Protection Policy.

£20.00 non-returnable Booking Deposit
£5.00 per person per night (cottage)
£2.00 per person per night (camping)

At the moment Rick and Myself will be going up at about 4pm on the Friday if anyone want to join us. Cold snaps a coming, fingers xd for a good weekend what ever we end up doing. D

Hi

So far I have Ian Brewster, Karen Evans, Dave Owen and myself thinking of travelling together.

I also have Derek, Rick and Dominic. I think Colin Morrison is also comming but haven't written his name don. There seems to be scope for a travel plan. Mike
