I've got to say it, but I think I have just had one of my best days out in the mountains for a long time. Following an early start myself, Ian & Lou, Colin P, Theron & Debs met up in the car park in the shadow of Cadair Idris. Our plans for the day were to climb Table Direct (VD**), leading on to Cyfrwy Arete (D**). After a really pleasant walk in we arrived at the base of our route. We climbed in three pairs, Ian & Lou leading off, shortly followed by Theron & Debs, with Myself and Colin going last.
Colin suggested that we climb through, so we could move quickly over the climb. Having not got a lead under my belt this season I was a little hesitant at first, but I took a deep breath and took the sharp end of the rope in hand. I needn't have worried, this is a brilliant climb, with nice big hand and foot holds, and plenty of placements for gear, a must for novices or thoughs who just like to climb on easier grades. All too soon we were topping out and enjoying a well earned sarnie, before our decent back to the car.
Just one last point. One thing struck me about this area we were climbing in. Although we were climbing a two star Vdiff, and a two star Diff, one a beautiful spring day, we were only joined by one other party. If this had been the The East Face of Tryfan, or Idwell, I think it would have been a case of take a ticket and wait your turn! Once again folks thanks for a brilliant day out.
