Graeme lead the pitch out to the full 50m of double half ropes and built a belay stance around a rusted old peg. I followed up, the climbing felt incredible. It demanded my absolute focus, planting one ice axe at a time, one foot at a time, moving as calmly as I could, taking out ice srews (trying not to drop them!), I was in a bubble, the exposure not registering with me, it was just me and the ice in front of my eyes! It was hard, but it was heaven!
