MOB Meeting 19.08.10

Greeting to you all. I hope you are all well and getting out and about. If on your travels you should come across the British summer, could you please point it in the right direction.

Club Rack

No progress has yet been made with regards to finding what new equipment is needed. However it was mentioned that Matt Nuttall has worked at Ellis Brigham’s in the past, and may be able to get a good discount on climbing gear. So watch this space.

　

Reports

Stuart Pearson reported back on The Saunders Mountain Marathon. Stuart did mention that he will be placing a blog on the club website, so keep a lookout for that.

Mark Russell - Climbing at Stanage

Will & Jordan - Climbed Snowdon via Crib Goch

Ian Atkinson & Mark Rothwell - Climbed “Slanting Buttress” on Lliwell, Snowdonia.

Derek - Back out after injury. Climbing at Troy, Also flying at Clough Head in The Lakes. Report to follow on website.

Barry - Climbing with Derek at Troy.

Ian Brewster - Walking on Pembrokeshire coastline.

Mark Ainsworth - Been on a trip to South East Asia leading a school trip (please see blog on website). Also Munro bagging in Scotland.

David Dickinson - Competed in local fell race.

　

Events

August Bank Holiday Meet at Reg’s

Derek mentioned that if you are thinking of coming along to the meet could you let him know, as we need to know what the numbers will be. There is the possibility of hiring a porta loo for the weekend if there’s going to be a large attends. Furthermore Derek did say that if you need direction just give him a call, and he will be more than willing to assist.

　

Glencoe Meet 17^th & 18^th September

I’ve managed to book a 16 bed bunk house at The Independent Hostel in Glencoe. Accommodation costs £10.00 a night, bedding is provided. Plus it’s only a ten minute walk to The Clachaig Inn; who could ask for more! This meet is proving to be popular so don’t delay and book today, as spaces are getting spares.

　

Mountain Biking Weekend

15^th to 17^th October

Get your mountain bikes out boys and girls 30 places available. I have booked the Newton Stewart YHA exclusive use for us. Self catering, pub on Saturday if you want. Google 7 staines for route details there are 2 areas near Newton Stewart. If you are interested give me a ring on 01204 695210. Mark explained that the cost of the weekend will be £20.00, however there may be a small additional charge this should be no more that a fiver.

　

　

　

　

Alpine Meet

Colin Morrison is planning a meet in the Alps for October time. Nothing is set in stone as of yet but Colin will let us know as and when things have been arranged.

　

　

Lairds Bothy Winter Meet

The Lairds Bothy in Kingussie has been booked for the weekend of 19^th - 20^th Feb 2011. More details to follow closer to time.

　

Norway Trip

Ian Atkinson will be booking accommodation in September for a trip to Rjukan in Norway for an ice climbing trip in September. Any one interested should contact Ian ASAP. The trip will be between 5^th - 12^th of February 2011. Ian did say that the trip should cost around £600 to £700.

Shap Christmas Meet

Keith’s Christmas meet at Shap will be booked for early December anyone interested please contact Keith to book your place.
