Caving 26th October
I have been asked about organising a caving trip so...here goes!
I have 5 places available for a novice caving trip either in P8 Derbyshire or various caves on Birkwith Moor in Yorkshire. I have wet weather alternatives for both areas.
I will provide ropes and ladders but you will need to provide your own harness and cows tails (two carabiners and 2 metres of dynamic rope). You can use you'r own climbing helmet and head torch or hire a caving helmet and lamp from either Inglesport (Yorkshire) or Hitch and Hike (Derbyshire) around £3:00 per day
Clothing required is fleece type undergarments and a boiler suit or other old outer clothing, wellington boots (if you don't have any let me know I have some) . Please bring sufficient food and water change of clothes and towel.
I know that sometimes the idea of subterranean exploration can be unnerving so here is a little about your guide.
I hold a BCA level 2 cave leader certificate including Mines and SRT extension. I have served 7 years as a core team member of Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation and I have held a Mountain Rescue casualty care certificate for 6 years. I am a current member of the Peak District Instructed Caving Association (PICA). I have also completed SPA training.
My wife also DCRO and MRT Cascare holder will be accompanying the trip as a second.
I have 5 seats available in my Land Rover if required at fuel cost.
Further information will be emailed to those interested in attending.
Cheers
Ron

Hi Ron. I'd like to attend. I'm not a climber so not sure what a cow's tail is. I've got a harness, a couple of karabiners, helmet and headtorch, but no rope. Could I borrow a pair of willies?
Cheers,
Ian

Update I now have
Carly, Paul, Jon, and Lisa. Leaving 1 seat free.
Hi Carly I have now got Paul, Jon, and Lisa. that leaves 2 seats free.
No it doesn't need to be waterproof, but try and make sure that your undergarments are fleece or some other nylon material that is quick drying. Basically whatever you wear will get wet pretty much straight away but you will keep warmer if it drains/dries quickly.
nylon trackie bottoms, fleece trousers, wetsuit, stuff like that is good. I will bring anything that I have lying around as well. I have a couple of boiler suits that I will bring and possibly a few other bits. We will manage don't worry :-)
PS don't expect a fancy Landy :-) :-)
Yes I have both of you down
So far I have Jon and Lisa down to go with 3 spaces left. :-)
count me in, put me down for a car space buddy
thanks
jonnie
