1. There is lots of new information on the website and Derek and Rick
have been especially busy on and off the site
2. Next meeting Brewster will be doing one of his round Britain with a
rucksack talks – everything you wanted to know about 2008
3. Decided to go to Climbing Wall on alternate Wednesdays starting
25th Feb, then 11 March, 25th March
Activities
Dave Dixon has been skiing in France for the last 6 weeks! But Gaye
has broken her arm so they are now back.
Mike Chambers almost got on to High Street in lots of fresh snow but
cut short at Angle Tarn because the snow was deep but not crisp and
even. Last week was out on Pendle with D of E leaders’ training
Richard has been on climbing walls in Preston and Kendal
Derek and Rick have been to Wales (too much snow in the Lakes) with
Colin and Mark Rothwell. Set off at 5am and walked in to do Pillar
Chimney. Colin and Mark did Tower Gully.
Last week D and R went to Seathwaite and stayed in the camping barn
for sick squid, then went up Gable Crag a 700 ft Grade ¾ then to Great
End and down.
Did two Grade 3s the next day- it was tough because very lean (the ice
not the climbers).
Future plans
1 Feb 22nd – Deepdale Horseshoe
2 1st May – camping at Reggies
3 Feb 28th – Chris Smith has hired the Bogtrotters at Waterfoot
theatre – get tickets from Chris or Mary Cooper
4 May Spring Bank Holiday 22nd-25th there is a planned return to
Braemar organised by Dave Evans
5 5. MOB 30th has been booked at Borrrowdale Youth Hostel 25th/26th
September 2009
Dave O is taking bookings and can pay by instalments to Dave O or Ian
Brewster – deposit of £10 per person secures a place
6. Mike Chambers has booked 10 beds at Crianlarich hut 6th/7th March
2009. These are now full but there are beds in places nearby so anyone
else who wants to go should contact Mike direct
7 Stuart is going to Mallorca from 6th-16th April it is only 200 of
our diminishing English pounds and that includes flights. He will give
you all the info you need if you want to go too – for any of that
period.
8. Lagangarbh has been booked for the second weekend in June – but it
is now full.
