Mark Ainsworth sent his apologies.
The meeting welcomed Phil and Natalie Hay back to the club after moving back up to home ground after a few years down in smoky London. What took you so long.
Also Mike fulton came to his first club meeting.

Reports

Wednesday’s night climbing at Wilton 3 was well attended, with 10 lads and 2 children turning out. Fortunately we didn’t have to dodge any bullets as the gun club wasn’t shooting. Plenty of routes where done, with Lee Unsworth and Will Shaw leading there first routes so well done to them.

Phil Hay Had been climbing on Shepherds crag in Borrowdale.

Ian Brewsters report of the Mob Dolomites trip

On the week starting Sat 5th Sept, six of us - myself, Ian + Louise, Dave + Karen, and Theron, went to the Dolomites. Based in Arabba, but did two separate 3 day trips, staying at Rifugios(high mountain huts). Routes planned by Ian A, mainly walking, but taking in a few via ferratas, and the summit of Marmolada which is the highest of the Dolomite peaks at 3343m.
Dave and Karen did their own routes.
For the rest of us the itinery was:
Day 1: Passo Sella - VF Possnecker(grade 4C) - Piz Selva - Rifugio Pisciadu
" 2: Rifugio Pisciadu to Rifugio Pordoi, across high plateau of the Sella massif
" 3: Rifugio Pordoi - Piz Boe - VF Vallon(2B) - VF Piz de Lech(3B) - Piz de Lech summit - Corvara
" 4: Up Contrin valley from Penia, to Rifugio Contrin
" 5: Rifugio Contrin to Marmolada summit, via W ridge(VF grade 4C) – descent N, across the glacier, to Rifugio Fiacconi
" 6: Rifugio Fiacconi - Forcella Marmolada - Rif.Contrin - Penia

Excellent walking weather all week - dry, light winds, not too hot, and clear except for a bit of cloud on very top of Marmolada. Lots of good grub eaten (although not particularly cheap). IRB's walking shoes falling apart by end of day 1, as predicted. Even gaffer tape wouldn't hold them together for long, so new pair had to be purchased in Arabba after day 3.
Excellent trip.

Rick had given us a short report from his six weeks in the Alps, full report and slide show to follow.

Future events

23rd Sept Preston climbing wall (West view leisure centre)

25th Sept. 30th Anniversary weekend at Borrowdale.

The Centre will be open from 5pm on the Friday, not to sure what time we have to vacate on the Sunday? I think as we have sole use of the hut it will be in the late afternoon.
You won’t need any bedding as that provided by the YHA. See Dave Owen before you find a room as he has names and rooms sorted.
As for what’s on, no doubt some will be going walking or climbing, (wet weather alternative could be the new Keswick climbing wall). In the evenings there will be a rolling film show of the Mob over the last 30 years (Don’t forget your pictures). Then the highlight of the weekend is disco on the Saturday night courtesy of Tommo which know doubt will be a good do. There is also a bar on site, and I think a pool room for the kids. We are also holding a raffle in aid of the Mike Sadulas Memorial fund, proceeds going to the North West Air Ambulance. (If one or two could bring a raffle prize).

Don’t forget we have a meal book for the Saturday night and breakfasts for those who ordered them.
