Event Description

Two Saturday afternoons in November. All equipment provided. The first session will be on the river at Burrs (Bury) on 12 November. Meet at 1pm by the training pond. The second session onSaturday 19 November will be on a river (to be decided but if the group shows talent and the weather behaves we might be able to go to the Lakes and paddle the Crake - otherwise a trip down the Goyt (Marple) may be better with the option of a canal trip in the event of extreme flooding. The Lakes will be a full day trip.

You need to be able to swim! Ideally I am looking for a group of about 8 but if some folk are experienced or canoe club friends decide to join us, we could expand.

Hi Folks

The numbers are perfect and the weather is about right. You will need

Either a pair of wet suit boots or disposable trainers - a wet suit or a set of kit that can get wet and stay warm (noy cotton if possible). If you have a short, lightweight cag this will be better than anything we will be able to lend you. I normally favour a light fleece or a wooly for paddling and there may be a bit of hanging around tomorrow so err on the side of warmth.

Towel essential, change of clothes required and a hot drink may be useful.

We will meet at 1pm by the containers overlooking the training pool - sort out boats (faffing with footrests I am afraid) then walk up the river (on a path) as I am afraid there are so many weeds in the canal we'll wear ourselves out!

Helmets, buoyancy aids, some cags, paddles and boats provided.

Aim to be away by 4 so we should get about 1-1.5 hrs paddling after which we can thnk about next week.

Looking forward to tomorrow.

Mike

Sounds great! Just need to make sure I haven't got children to look after on that day. Done a few days Kyaking on the the kangaroo river in Oz and a day sea kayaking in the med...but all very flat water stuff really.

Not really - only once or twice as a kid over 20 years ago...

Mike, Love to attend. My fat boys Inzazone needs to see some action this year. If the doc saysI am fit to paddle and I don't have my daughter I'll come along. I have posted another event on the19th November which should round the day off nicely.

Hi Mike - at the last meeing I said I was up for this but I was being a bit dim and didn't pay enough attention to the date change. I'm not going to be able to make the 12 unfortunately - do you think it would be foolhardy to try and go to the session on nov 19 without having done the first one?
