My brother-in-law has asked me to take him to the summit of Great Gable, in order to spend the night there, it's on his list of things to do before he dies; the old romantic. I was thinking of camping up there, however I have been informed that it is not possible due to the terrain, and that a bivvy bag would be better. I don't have a Bivvy bag myself and I need two and bearing in mind my brother-in-law is 6'8" he'll need a big one. So does anyone out there have any bivvy bags to borrow us, I will get them back to you in the condition they were loaned to us I promise.

Hi Pete

During the summer - and given a decent forecast you will get away with an ordinary orange exposure bag over the top of a sleeping bag, with a Karrimat in the exposure bag for good measure. Take some ear plugs cos in my experience its the incessant rustling of the plastic bag that will keep you awake. Wear a hat and best of luck ! Mike (PS I can robably rustle up a couple of plastic bags ho ho!)

I've got a north face tadpole tent that you could borrow? I believe it can be pitched fly only onto the footprint if you just want a geodesic shelter? X

Hi Kathryn

Many thanks for the offer of the tent, you're a star. However according to those who know best, bivving is our only option and that a tent can't be pitched at the summit of Great Gable.

Many thanks

Pete

Hi Pete, don't know if it's too late now,  but I have one, old goretex bivvy bag that should still be ok for one night.  Gary

Hi Gary

You really are one great man so you are! Would love to lend the Bivvi bag, I will make sure it comes back in one piece.

Many many thnaks

Pete
