You see.... despite its roots way back in the very early 80s at the Sundial, the MOB wasn't the first climbing club in Bury!

There's been some talk on UK Climbing recently about newly discovered quarries in the area, and picking through my old archives I came across a handwritten guide to a Cheesden Quarry, Heywood (tho noted as being 1 mile north of Deeply Vale, which doesn't sound like Heywood to me!)

The guide was written by Ian and (another) Knowles, and (somebody) Whewell. Does anyone have any recollection of these characters?

I'm in the middle of making sure the guide is complete before uploading it to the RockArchivist site.

Great to see the MOB is still going. Are the words on the sweatshirts spelled correctly these days?

Hi Phil
Nice to see your still keeping an eye on the club, the place north of Deeply you mentioned is on the right flank of the Valley North of Buckhurst. I've climbed there a few times a long time ago and took the scouts there. It's not a very high place, but it would possibly make a good bouldering area if I remember rightly.

Kind regards

Derek
