Building off of the success of the first elite Psicobloc competition held in in Bilbao, Spain, in 2011, the Psicobloc Masters Series is the next evolution in competitive climbing. The inaugural Psicobloc Masters will be held August 2, 2013, at the Utah Olympic Park's 750,000-gallon freestyle aerial training pool. Some of the best climbers in the world will compete head-to-head on a custom wall approaching 5.14 in difficulty, featuring a 26-foot roof 50 feet above the water. The comp will feature a men's and women's division and winners will share a $20,000 purse, the largest of any climbing competition this year.

You can watch it live on Internet and follow the Comp in the next website:

Bolt failure on welsh sport routetag:mountaineeringclubofbury.ning.com,2013-06-15:2535987:Topic:424102013-06-15T19:24:25.801ZGraham Stevenshttps://mountaineeringclubofbury.ning.com/profile/GrahamStevens
Not sure if people know about this. The BMC reported a couple of weeks back that a bolt had failed on a new-ish sport route in North Wales. The bolt broke without even taking full force of a leader fall, and turned out to be totally unsuitable to equip a sport route. I mention it because the same bolts may have been used at Castle Inn Quarry which I know some club members like to visit. More details can be found on this thread on ukbouldering.com. Be safe!

Hello All,

I am free on Sunday, and weather permitting aim to get out for some easy grade mileage to kick off the Trad season. Ideally some sort of NW Based quarry or something; could be tempted to go to Stanage or Burbage if the weather is playing.

Going to keep my eye on the weather, but if you fancy it then drop a reply below.

Thanks,

I know there are a few members, myself included, who after cutting there teeth leading are looking to get together a climbing rack. Given everything is so expensive a lot of us have been picking up individual pieces as and when we can afford them. To help us build something which is useful but cost effective, It would be useful if we could get some advice of some of the more experienced club member about building up a suitable rack.
To help us build something which is useful but cost effective, It would be useful if we could get some advice of some of the more experienced club member about building up a suitable rack.

What do you consider as essential for a beginners rack for:
1) Cragging
2) Multipitch routes

For example what sizes hexs would you purchase? If you were going to buy friends (Cams) what sizes would you purchase for a beginners rack.

Any help much appreciated.
