MOB Minutes – August 2015

Meeting chair TH, minutes JB, members present 18

Thanks to Ron Price for holding a session on first aid in the mountains which was very informative

1.    Finance

Lundy refunds

Members who have paid for Lundy but are now unable to attend will be able to reclaim a refund but membership fees are to be taken out if they are outstanding for the year.  Spare places have been taken by 2 seasoned sea cliff climbers from London and Cornwall and 2 climbers from Bolton. DK

Website fees

Fees (£169) have been paid for the year. WS

Static rope

A static rope will be bought and added to MOB kit which can be used for Lundy and abseiling practise. DK/JT

Hut meets

To avoid situations where hut places are booked based on initial interest but later places are spare leaving the club liable for hut fees etc, places will only be reserved on payment.  If a member cannot then attend and a substitute not found, they will lose the monies paid, which will be used to pay their hut fees.

BMC training grants

Still waiting to hear.  The BMC have been contacted a dozen times but still no definitive answer.  JB

2.    Monthly meet ideas

Any ideas for the monthly meets to be passed onto Tony e.g. First Aid etc. TH

3.    First aid kit

Following discussions last month when members expressed support for buying a first aid kit that could be taken on events, Ron has agreed to take this forward and buy a kit.  All suggestions welcome. RP

4.    Club kit

The club kit list is now visible on the forum page of the website.  If anyone needs to borrow kit, text Tony to arrange pick up or Derek.

5.    Future events

Scottish winter walk – March 4th

Money due in if a place has been reserved (£10pppn).  If not places will be allocated as payment is received which may result in members losing places previously reserved. MC (see website for further details).

Wales multi activity weekend – October 2nd

Places still available. (£32pp). MD (see website for further details).

Wilton Festival – September 5th

Hopefully this can be well supported despite several climbers being in Lundy at this time. JB

Following last year’s successful night navigation event, it is hoped to repeat this again around November maybe accompanied by a talk.

December Mob walk

The weather forecast had dire warnings for travel so very limited turn out Average age of the walkers was 70 y.o. There was just a small amount f snow on roads. But the regular track up Pendle hill was hard packed snow hence slippery. Took took the cross country route to Ogden Clough about 6ins of soft snow. Very few people out on the tops. Sorry the younger members were all at home watching City week in fact all back home before kick off
