I was looking for a rope bucket when I happened upon a video of Adam Ondra climbing Chaxi Raxi in Spain on this site.

Friday afternoon myself, Ian, Colin and Pete did a little scramble (grade 3 with 2 stars) at the back of the hut on a buttress to the right of the descent path on the Buchaille. Lovely grippy rock and although it was wet it was a fantastic warm up for the rest of the weekend. Only an hour to complete it, but then the weather came in bad and it was hail-stoning hard. Then 10 minutes later glorious sunshine, so we sweat our way back down to the hut to wait for the rest to arrive. Theron…Continue
Decided to do the Mary Townley Mountain bike loop last weekend ,for anyone who is unaware of this , it is part of the Pennine Bridleway and is a 47 mile off road cycle loop around the Pennines I started the loop in Rossendale at 8.00 am on Saturday and finished my first day at Makinholes Youth Hostel at about 2.30 pm totally knackered where I spent the night finishing the loop on the Sunday starting from the youth Hostel at about 8 .30 finishing in Rossendale at about…Continue

In the heat of the Friday afternoon sunshine the team rendezvoused at Jordon HQ, aka, his mum and dad's house. Mark Russell kindly relieved me from my house-husbandly duties on route, and there we met Will, Tony, and a rather 'loose-bowelled' and ever so eager Jordon.
The plan was simple. Make our way to Troy and climb until sunset, fill our boots at the local carvery for £3.65, and then make our way to Borrowdale for the night with the prospect of climbing at…Continue

I've got to say it, but I think I have just had one of my best days out in the mountains for a long time. Following an early start myself, Ian & Lou, Colin P, Theron & Debs met up in the car park in the shadow of Cadair Idris. Our plans for the day were to climb Table Direct (VD**), leading on to Cyfrwy Arete (D**). After a really pleasant walk in we arrived at the base of our route. We climbed in three pairs, Ian & Lou leading off, shortly followed by Theron & Debs, with…Continue

Bags packed for the last 3 weeks and Geoff continually checking weather forecast for Scotland on the net every night. Just a little bit keen........Finally the perfect weekend had arrived and we were all set to go. I must admit I was a little worried at the prospect of tagging along with 2 super strong, super fit fellas (Rick `n Geoff). I am certainly not in that league.............Got loads of stamina yeah but as for strength and moving fast.......That aint me! Do they really want me to tag…Continue
The information signs on The A55 were warning drivers of fog patches, and they weren't lying. The view from the car window wasn't looking promising. It looked like it was going to be another one of those days in Wales, lots of hard work and no reward; with regards to views anyway.
We made good time and were soon parked up on the A5 at the bottom of North Ridge. We got ourselves suited and booted and made a…Continue

Not sure if anyone's heard/read about this already, but thought it'd be worth sharing.
If someone offers you new Petzl gear very cheap, it could well be dodgy...

Had a fantastic day out yesterday and the weather was kind to us. I tried to explain to Will that you have to look at the forecast and then listen to what it says, if it says showery at Burbage then it likely will rain!
We started off up the path next to Stickle Ghyll and forked off right to scramble up the ridge grade 2. A good warm up to climbing and very grippy rock. We then tracked round to the bottom of Pavey Ark and found the start of Crescent Climb. Memories of…Continue
Now here we go, my partner for the day was the" Dominator" a man who's eagerness puts Derek into a very poor second. Mob ascent of The Point as Dom calls it well to be honest so do I now. Keeping up with these boys is hard and sometimes a little lonely, that initial slope is big and long.
I must admit I did think Dom had soloed the first pitch as I could not see him as I approached the bottom of the route. I know I have new axes but Holy Mother of…Continue
Does this picture of Dorsal arête ring any bells with any of the marks who had green ropes on that day.......
If point Five was just another Grade 5 gully climb, we all would have climbed it long ago.
The amount of folk law and mythology surrounding the climb builds an image in your mind which bares little relation to reality. The reason it takes so many people so long to achieve this tick has nothing to do with difficulty or conditions. Its actually in climbable condition pretty often but getting all the components to come together…Continue
