Wednesday night Mob climbing meet - Witches Quarry

Time: July 9, 2014 from 5pm to 10pm
Location: Witches Quarry
Event Type: climbing
Organized By: Jill Brumby
Latest Activity: Jul 9, 2014

Event Description

A quarry just North-East of Clitheroe with good quality limestone and plenty of routes between Severe and E2.

There are access issues so please park within the quarry - ten cars maximum as stated by signs from the BMC. Make sure the gate is closed. There have been historical problems, so the access rights are very important if climbing is to continue here.

All welcome.

I will be going straight from work which is nearby so will not be able to offer lifts to this event.  Sorry.

Cheers for the offer Ron. Already on the train to Bolton now, heading over to Wilton 1 to get a few routes in. Enjoy Witches, it's a nice quarry with some good routes!

Would have liked to come as never climbed here and have heard good things about it, but won't be able to get out of work early enough this wed. Can someone who goes post a few words on the site reporting back on what the crag is like?

Are you still on for Tremadog as we're sorting lifts?

Comment by Jill Brumby on July 7, 2014 at 15:46

Sorry Leo, I'm going straight from work as it's close by.

I'd be well up for this if I can blag a lift from somewhere. I can probably finish work at 3 so I could be at Bury Tram stop for 3:30. If I can't blag out of work it'd be 4:30.

Or is anyone driving out of Manchester?

MOB Dec meeting

This meeting was well attended as it included the annual photo competition ( separate blog to follow on the results).

Matt the treasurer reminded everyone that the subs were due early next year.  £23 which includes BMC membership and insurance.  Latest date to pay is Feb 1st.  Please be proactive with this so Matt is not chasing anyone up.  Pay at meeting or into MOB account.  Let Mat know if you pay this way.

December Mob walk

The weather forecast had dire warnings for travel so very limited turn out Average age of the walkers was 70 y.o. There was just a small amount f snow on roads. But the regular track up Pendle hill was hard packed snow hence slippery. Took took the cross country route to Ogden Clough about 6ins of soft snow. Very few people out on the tops. Sorry the younger members were all at home watching City week in fact all back home before kick off
